Friday the 13th Inspired Movie Marathon

Friday the 13th is upon us again, you can run… you can hide… but there is no escaping it. What is it about this day and date pairing that gives people the willies?

Some suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia, the phobia of Friday the 13th which impacts more than 17 million (that’s about 1 in 20) people in the United States alone. So look around your office, one of those people would be perfect to prank today. Now that you’re pondering that, you’re welcome! The actual root of Friday the 13th being a day to hide away in order to avoid bad luck is up for debate. There was no mention of Friday the 13th being unlucky before the 19th century. Though the number 13 has long been considered an unlucky number. I for one will be locked away this evening, not hiding, but taking the opportunity to enjoy a Friday the 13th inspired movie marathon. Won’t you join me?

On my moviepalooza list:

It’s a must on such a day to watch such a movie. Classic slasher flick. Great starting point.

Don’t judge me. I Know What You Did Last Summer lumps together jump out of your seat cinema with almost too much hotness for one movie.

This movie actually made me sleep with the lights on and almost wet my pants. I’m not to proud to admit that this movie scared the ever loving bajeezous out of me. Oh and the masks, shiver, no thank you.

Since about 7th grade this has been one of my favorite movies. I can quote the entire things, I still yell at Sidney when she runs upstairs instead of out the front door, and I laugh myself silly at the end when Stu cries about how his mom and dad are going to be so mad at him. Love this movie, including the sometimes lame sequels.

And if those haven’t scared you past the point of being able to fall asleep here is another favorite scary movie that  doesn’t exactly fit in the slasher genre, but will have you jumping at the bumps in the night.

Jeepers creepers, where’d you get those peepers, jeepers creepers, where’d you get those eye! That song alone can stop me in my tracks. Flying demon thing clunking around collecting body parts, yup I’ll be double checking that my windows are locked.

So you might get stalked by a crazy dude wearing a hockey mask who wants to kill you… but you probably won’t.

What’s your favorite scary movie?
